Very Despicable

Everywhere you hear about evil. You hear it on television, you hear it from your parents, and you especially see it on the internet. Not all evil is actually bad though. Like in the movie Despicable Me. Evil villain, Gru, has sinister plans to… STEAL THE MOON! His minions and sidekick will work and work. But will trying to take down competition foil his plans?
This movie was funny, sad, and a little weird. One thing that it’s lacking though, which I feel every movie needs, is a surprise. I mean, the only thing that was close to a surprise was when his sidekick tried to give the girls away because Gru was focusing on them more than his work. I have to say though this movie is number one when it comes to funniness. His minions are little yellow things that are out of the park funny. They’re what make this movie a little weird.
Over this entire movie definitely deserves 4 paws. And if you like this movie, you’ll like the movie Hop even more. It’s the perfect Easter movie, by the same creators.

Fred Should Have Stayed Asleep!

My least favorite movie was Fred 2: Night of the living Fred. It is about a boy named Fred and his new neighbor Mr. Devlin. Fred thinks that Mr. Devlin is a vampire. Home from school one day, Mr. Devlin asks Fred to dinner at his house. Will he make it out alive?

I don’t like this movie because they had bad actors. For one thing, all the actors didn’t seem believable. They all didn’t act enough. It seemed like a high school play instead of a movie. Also, Fred wears weird clothes, has a girl voice, and wears suspenders.

I wouldn’t recommend this movie. I give this movie 1 out of 5 paws.

The Lorax

Have you ever wondered if there were really trees that were softer than silk and smelled like butterfly milk? Well, in Thneedville, a long time ago there were thousands of them. Until someone cut them down. After that, a city was built, but the city was plastic and fake. The people liked it that way. Everything was plastic. Even the trees. The mayor was very small, and his name was O’Hare. The air was not so clear in Thneedville so Mr. O’Hare sold fresh air. All he cared about was money. Until a boy named Ted wants to get a real tree for a pretty girl. But all the trees were gone so he had to talk to the Onceler. He’s the one who knows what happened to the trees. But he lived outside of town. So Ted had to go outside of town which made O’Hare mad. Will Ted ever get a real tree for his love?

I liked this movie because it was really funny. My favorite character was Ted’s grandma. She did these crazy things! She was small, like the mayor, but she was a great skier and incredibly old! I laughed throughout the entire movie.

Unfortunately, there were some things I didn’t like. The movie looked cartoonish and really fake. I like movies that look real. I also didn’t like it because people were mean like the major and his burly body guards.

Overall, this movie was great! It was full of laughs! So if you are looking for a cartoony movie full of fun, than get The Lorax

I give this movie 4 paws!

Surviving Hunger

Have you ever wondered what the world will be like in the future? According to The Hunger Games movie, it only gets worse from here. The world, or what’s left of it, is divided into 12 districts.

The story sets in the poorest district, district 12. There, lives a girl named Katniss and her little sister, Prim. Every year, district 1, the capital also known as the city of Panem, hosts this gory competition where, two people from every district go and fight for their lives. When Katniss volunteers after Prim’s name gets chosen. Who knows if Katniss and her partner will survive the dangers of the arena? After all that’s where people kill and are killed.

There were things I liked and didn’t like. When it comes the some of the characters, it wasn’t so good. I particularly didn’t like the character Haymitch. He was Katniss’s mentor for the games. He had won them for district 12 in times past. My guess is that he was supposed to be somewhat stupid because, at the beginning he threw up, stumbled on his words, and never exactly knew what was going on. I found that really gross and not something that movie needed. I imagine a mentor being fit and pushing people to do their best. But this guy was a big oaf.

I also didn’t like how they didn’t focus on winning the games, but getting people to sponsor them. People were allowed to send gifts to people, like food, water, even medicine. So they made them look good instead of training them.

The rest of the movie was really good. It’s filled with excitement, intensity, and love. Plus its action was spot on. I really liked the part when Katniss went to the feast. The capital put out food for the final five tributes and a backpack with something each tribute desperately needs. Katniss got attacked by Clove, a girl from district 2, when trying to get her backpack. But Thresh, a humongous man from district 11, come and kills Clove, saving Katniss’s life. I also liked the final battle between three tributes. Who will survive and win the hunger games?

Over all I think the movie deserves 3 paws.

No Trees for the Lorax!

Have you ever wondered if there was a city made completely out of plastic? Well, I know a city. This city’s name is Thneedville. The city only has plastic trees, and Ted, the main character, wants to get someone special a tree, a real tree. He goes out of town where he isn’t supposed to go and tries to find the person that cut down all of the trees. When he finally finds the person called the Onceler, he asks what happened to all the trees. He tells him a story about a man that goes somewhere to make sweaters, coats, and a lot more. The animals there love him until he cuts down a tree. The Lorax comes out and gets super mad at him. You will have to see the rest of the movie to find out what happens.

I like this movie because it makes you want to laugh out loud. For example, there are these little bears, and when they see marshmallows they go crazy. Another reason I like this movie is because it teaches a lesson. We should conserve our resources and not cut down all the trees. This movie made me think about how we don’t take care of our planet.

If you are looking for a funny movie, then this one’s for you. I give this movie 4 out of 5 paws.
